Why GLF

The floor underneath matters more.

Seven of the eight reasons floors fail are in the building, not the board. Moisture, flatness, cracks and contamination decide whether a premium product lasts. None of them are on the sample board.

So we check them first, write them into the scope and price the job once.

“Getting your floors replaced is disruptive enough. Our job is to build something that lasts 20 years, not 20 months.”
Mitchell Peck, owner
  1. 01

    Moisture

A slab can be dry on top and still releasing vapour. Once a floor seals it, that moisture has nowhere to go.

  2. 02

    Flatness vs level

Level is not the same as flat. Click joints flexing over a hollow eventually separate.

  3. 03

    Cracks and joints

A crack in the slab telegraphs through the finish unless it is classified and treated first.

  4. 04

    Contamination

Old adhesive, paint and sealers stop a bond forming. Adhesive failure is not repairable in place.

  5. 05

    The existing floor

What comes up, what stays and what it hides. Assessed before we price, not after take-up.

  6. 06

    Grinding

Opens the surface to a sound bond. Dust-extracted, so your house stays livable.

  7. 07

    Levelling

Laser-checked and self-levelled to the tolerance the manufacturer's warranty requires.

  8. 08

    Transitions

Doors, tiles, carpet and stairs. Planned heights and trims, no trip edges.

Kane Yappy

Absolutely fantastic service. Professional, on time, hard working and nothing was an issue. Would recommend Mitch and crew in a heart beat.
Chris

Top quality. Mitchell is a professional and not only great at installing a floor but a good communicator. From the start of the process expect a quick response with a site inspection and quote. Mitchell really thinks about the job and considers options and alternatives, what will work and what will not. He also considers many of the small details in the job, so there are no surprises or variations. As for the installation, Mitchell was on time, on budget, and the job is total quality. We were kept in the loop the entire job and there were no variations to what was quoted. The end result all went to plan, and it looks so great! Mitch takes a lot of pride in his work and guarantees it. It is the back up and support you get from Get Leveled Flooring that stands apart. Thanks Mitch.
Jason Bradley

Mitch and his team were awesome. He was quick to respond, provided great advice/choices and co-ordinated with the other tradies/suppliers helping with our installation of floating floors within a shipping container build. Planning to have him return soon to sand and polish the floors within our house.

Would recommend Mitch to anyone! Always quality work and a keen eye for detail.

Common questions

Straight answers.

What areas does Get Leveled Flooring cover?

Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and the Central Coast. We also travel across regional NSW for builders on larger projects, including school projects at Broken Hill and Forbes.

Why do you test for moisture before laying a timber floor?

A slab can be dry on top and still releasing vapour. Once a floor seals it in, that moisture has nowhere to go, and timber cups, lifts or fails. We test moisture at the site inspection and record the readings before anything goes down.

What is the difference between a level floor and a flat floor?

Level is about slope; flat is about hollows and humps over a short distance. Click-lock floors need flat. Joints that flex over a hollow eventually separate, so we check flatness and self-level to the tolerance the manufacturer's warranty requires.

What happens at a site inspection?

Mitch comes out, measures, tests moisture and checks flatness, and tells you straight what the floor needs. You then get a written scope covering preparation, product and install method, priced once, with allowances spelled out.

What floors do you install?

Engineered timber and herringbone, solid hardwood, hybrid, vinyl plank and microcement, plus floor preparation and levelling and repairs to existing floors. When the budget is tight, we are the Newcastle stockist for PACO Floors and also supply National Select Floors laminate, hybrid and engineered timber.

Do you work with builders and on commercial projects?

Yes. We have delivered floors for Club Projects, PV Projects, AW Edwards and Skelcon, across schools, hospitality and industrial sites, as well as fit-outs at Apple and Microsoft on Pitt St and No 5 Martin Place in Sydney.

Are you certified?

Get Leveled Flooring is a member of the Australasian Timber Flooring Association (ATFA), and Mitchell Peck is a CEMHER Certified Applicator, No. 202531, with more than 15 years on the tools.

Can I send photos or a floor plan before the inspection?

Yes. Attach up to five photos or PDFs to your site inspection request, along with any finishes you shortlisted in the floor designer. Mitch looks at them before he comes out.
